I have no doubts in my mind that tottenham are going to lift the UEFA cup. i think juande is going to take it one day at a time and going to lift his third successive UEFA cup.

Everton beat SK Brann on the nite 6-1 (8-1) on aggregate. No worries there about the away goal rule.

Away goals are a tie-breaker, and only count if the combined goals from the two matches are equal after both legs. If away goals are tied, it goes to extra time, then to penalties.

A quick question about the away goals rule, as I’m never quite sure about it: the away goals only count twice if teams scored the same amount of goals?

Leverkusen’s 5-1 was better to watch though. A nice one-touch passing game undid (albeit a bad defending) Galatasaray. Bayern, despite all those goals didn’t look too impressive.

Yeah, Jan, I expected at least a goal from Rangers at Ibrox. Novo missed a few good chances at home, but made up for it today with his late strike. The Rangers defense is far and away the best in Scotland right now, and one of the best in Europe … they just don’t seem to have the attack to match it. Part of the problem is formation, as Walter Smith is just too defensive. Against Barca in the CL, it made some sense? At home against Panathinaikos, a team like Rangers needs to be able to play two strikers.

I expected Rangers to be favourites in this tie, so I was bit surprised to see it being so close. Though, I personally would have preferred the Greek side to go through.;-) Rangers defence has really impressed me in the CL and it might just be the ‘wrong’ team for Werder Bremen, whose commitment to attacking football sees them vulnerable at the back and with the away goals rule, that is not the best of things. They could have gone into the away leg with two away goals against them, had Braga converted their (albeit unjustified) penalties.
