Still need 6 out of 8 UEFA Cup bloggers

By: Ian Rose | March 29th, 2008

I know I haven’t been quite as regular on this blog as in the past, with my other blogging duties at the Offside and World Cup Blog keeping me quite busy these days, but I wanted to point something out. Of the eight teams remaining in the UEFA Cup, only two have active blogs on the Offside. Only Fiorentina and Bayern Munich are represented, and that just won’t stand. We have a blog for Rangers, but we haven’t seen an update in months and it’s time for a new blogger. So I’m issuing an open call. If you support one of the following teams:

Bayer Leverkusen
Zenit St. Petersburg
Rangers
Sporting Lisbon
Getafe
PSV Eindhoven

, and you’d like to try your hand at blogging, let us know. You can email Daryl, who is in charge of such things, at daryl [at] theoffside [dot] com, or you can get in touch with me if you have any questions at uefa [at] theoffside [dot] com. I’d really like to see these teams represented, and a few posts a week, or even just match reports each weekend, would be a start. Thanks.

As we get closer to the opening leg of the quarterfinals this week, I’ll be back to take a look at the matchups and the latest news on each team.

I know it’s not an out and out Sporting blog, but I cover (well I did in the past and intend to now) all of the Portuguese teams’ UEFA cup matches over on http://portugal.theoffside.com ,if that helps. Besides, the nature of football in Portugal is such that any blog that covers the sport is largely a Porto, Benfica, and Sporting blog for all intents and purposes.

Absolutely, Greg. Much like any blog that covers Scottish football is largely about Celtic and Rangers. Nice work on the Portugal blog - it’s a great league and it’s good to keep up with it.

Thanks, man. It’s hard work getting any love over on the little Iberian country that could ;-).

Ian, I am going to repost this on my Bayern Offside and also over in my LiveJournal since I have a lot of friends there that are into some of these teams to see if we can get some more bloggers.
