Intertoto Cup video: Look, Ma, No riot police!
By: Ian Rose | July 9th, 2007Well, since Bob beat me to the punch on the Polish hooliganism this weekend in Vilnius, I figure I’ll just stick to posting video of actual football. Less tear gas that way.
First, we have what I consider to be the upset of the weekend, as Gloria Bistrita of Romania beat Maccabi Haifa, in Israel, 2-0. Haifa is a regular Champions League side, and has reached the CL group stages, so this is a huge win for a Romanian side that only got into the Intertoto Cup as an alternate after Scotland gave up its slot. And, two videos from the Trabzonspor 6-0 whooping of Vllaznia. First, the lovely 6th goal, and then, the even more cool sight of a team singing along with its fans. This is why, despite all the fussing and fighting in Lithuania, I love Intertoto Cup football.
