Now it’s on … 38 matches today
By: Ian Rose | September 20th, 2007Alright, enough of this one-match-per-day crap. We had the grinding 1-0 Hamburg win on Tuesday, the surprising 1-1 draw between Lens and Copenhagen yesterday, and now it’s time for the rest of the first round openers. No less than 38 UEFA Cup matches are on tap for today, and there are already some results. Spartak Moscow took it to Hacken to the tune of 5-0. Both sides are fresh off of Scottish vacations, Spartak losing to Celtic in the Champions League and Hacken having eliminated Dunfermline. Larisa has maybe the upset of the day already, beating Blackburn 2-0 in Greece. Bayer Leverkusen has taken out Unaio Leiria of Portugal 3-1. Most of the matches still remain, so stay tuned for updates and video as they become available.

Larissa? Dayum! At first I thought they were from Cyprus (because Spurs are playing a team from there) and when I saw the score it blew my mind.

Bordeaux gets two goals in injury time to steal 3 points on the road against Tampere Utd. Huge.

Good thing there aren’t any points up for grabs, then, Lucas!
Bordeaux are just… too lucky for their own good. Rennes won though, so I’m happy.
